Ethics & Corrections
Bylines and accountability
Every story carries a byline from our masthead. The bylined writer owns the facts in the piece. We do not publish unsigned editorial content outside of clearly labeled staff notes.
Sourcing
Aggregated stories are rewritten from the facts in the originating reporting, which we name and link in every article. We do not fabricate quotes, numbers, names, or statistics, and we do not attribute claims to named people beyond what the source record supports.
Use of AI
Cali Reporter uses AI systems for drafting and illustration under strict house rules: factual claims must trace to source material, quotes and statistics may never be invented, and every piece is held to the same editorial standards as traditionally produced work. Headlines are written to earn clicks, but must be supported by the article.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it fast and say so. Factual corrections are noted at the top of the affected article with the date and the nature of the change. We do not silently edit errors away. Report an error to tips@calireporter.com with the headline and what we got wrong.
Independence
Advertising does not buy coverage. Sponsored articles are always labeled Sponsored Content and styled distinctly from editorial. See our Sponsored Content Disclosure.
