Piers Morgan didn’t hold back. On his show Thursday, the British host tore into Mark Levin for labeling opponents of America’s involvement in the Iran war as “woke Reich Neo-fascists” who deserve censorship, while Levin himself rails against exactly that kind of rhetorical excess when it targets conservatives.

Morgan, joined by Megyn Kelly, called out Levin’s habit of equating criticism of Israel or the war with antisemitism and even blaming war skeptics for starting the conflict. Levin fired back on X, branding Morgan a “vile asshole,” a “washed up, failed journalist,” and a “pathetic and hopeless clown” who is “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.”

The exchange highlights a deeper fracture. Levin, whose Fox News weekend show draws what Morgan dismissed as “graveyard slop” audiences, has attacked a string of prominent voices: Megyn Kelly as an “unhinged degenerate bigot,” podcaster Dave Smith as a “grifting imbecile,” and Rep. Ro Khanna as a “Jew hating demagogue.” Morgan himself made the list this week.

Yet Levin once warned that comparing political opponents to Hitler “imperil[s] the Constitution and create[s] real life dangers,” calling such rhetoric “disgusting and dehumanizing.” Morgan noted the obvious hypocrisy: the same man who decried those tactics now deploys them against anyone questioning the U.S. decision to enter the war on Feb. 28, a move the State Department admitted on April 21 was undertaken “on behalf of Israel.”

Behind the personal barbs lies a substantive disagreement over free speech. Levin pushed to silence voices on the COVID lab leak, January 6, and Hunter Biden’s laptop. Morgan distilled it neatly: Levin champions free speech only for those who agree with him. The war itself was heavily lobbied for by Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli officials during a Feb. 11 White House meeting, according to The New York Times.

Trump backed Levin’s stance, but the feud reveals how quickly wartime unity collapses into accusations of disloyalty. When even conservative critics of endless entanglement abroad are branded traitors, the right’s claim to oppose cancel culture rings hollow.

The real test isn’t who insults loudest. It’s whether Americans can debate a war fought for another nation’s interests without one side demanding the other be silenced. So far, Levin’s answer is no.
